Itinerary
Day 1: From Cusco to Humantay Lake return to Cusco
Pickup will take place directly from your accommodation between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM, and may vary slightly depending on the location of your accommodation. We will start the trip very early in the morning, heading towards Humantay Lake. After a journey of approximately 2 hours, we will arrive at the town of Mollepata, where we will enjoy an Andean breakfast to recharge our batteries. Then we will continue by transportation to Balcompata.
The hike will begin in the Balcompata area, with a gentle 20-minute walk to the point where the horses will be. From there, we’ll begin the ascent on horseback to the lagoon, enjoying breathtaking high Andean landscapes and privileged views of the snow-capped Salkantay. After about 40 minutes of climbing, we’ll arrive at the beautiful lagoon, located more than 4,200 meters above sea level, where we’ll have free time to rest, take pictures, and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
Afterwards, we will begin the descent on foot (approx. 1 hour), which will allow us to better appreciate the landscape and take more photographs. Upon returning to Balcompata, we will board our return transportation and stop in Mollepata to enjoy a hearty lunch. Finally, we will continue our return journey to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, bringing this unforgettable experience to a close.
